Next Word, Please.
Objective: To increase a child’s vocabulary.
Participants: class
Procedure: The teacher asks the class to form a big circle around the classroom. Then, he asks one student to think of a word that starts with the last letter that he will say. Example, the teacher may say the word, “play” and points at a child; the child that is pointed at thinks of a word that starts with the letter “p”, such as pray. If a child is unable to give a word at the count of three, then he/she will be asked to sit down. The child who remains standing at a given time is the winner.
Variation: This game could be played in identifying any of the parts of speech or on vocabulary studies in any subjects.
